If you are a parent, you'll want to move on to MATH*Ability in the home.
If you are an educator who would like to improve your student's computational skills but dread the grading and production workload that practice sheets generate, then MATH*Ability has a solution for you!
As a supplemental program to a regular math program, MATH*Ability requires about 10-15 minutes per day to deliver the results. The time can be assigned as homework or the work can be done in the classroom.
How MATH*Ability fits into a classroom Once a week, you distribute and administer a timed test. Different students receive different tests specific to the skill each student is practicing. Some students might be working on single digit addition while others can be working on fractions. After you've collected the 3 minute test, you move on to the next item on your lesson plan. Depending on which option you choose, you'll take one of two steps.
Option 1: MATH*Ability Test Grading Service Your school can use our grading service to grade the weekly tests and produce the student's next week's worth of work. You drop off the tests at a grading center and pick up the test results and weekly packets 2 days later. Contact us about service availability in your area.
Option 2: Grading MATH*Ability sheets This option will work for you if you are both comfortable with computers and have some available time to operate the scanner and printer. To give you an idea of the time requirement, we can grade about 100 tests/hour and print the resulting homework as an ancillary task. Within two days of administering the tests, you place them in a special scanner that feeds itself like a photocopier. After the software has automatically scanned and read the tests, you return to the computer to check the errors it has found. Since you only look at errors, the task takes under 20 seconds per student. After checking the tests, the grades are automatically logged. Two mouse clicks more, and next week's homework and tests are printed.
The homework packets are distributed and your students have a little extra math each night for the next seven nights.
Your students get the benefit of individually tailored homework assignments without inundating you with clerical work.
