Who can sign-up? If your child's school does not offer MATH*Ability, you can enroll your child in our home based program or you can start your own!
MATH*Ability currently teaches basic math skills to children who are in grades 1-9. The program is self-paced so a child just learning addition moves at a pace appropriate to their skill and age while an older child who is reinforcing basic skills can move more quickly.
Entry to the program requires being able to write 90 legible answers in under 3 minutes. For very young children, we have an entrance test that requires legibly copying 135 digits under 3 minutes.
When and Where? The program meets once a week in Salinas or in Monterey.
The first visit requires approximately 20 minutes to assess where your child should begin. Subsequent weekly testing and practice work assignment are usually accomplished in under 10 minutes. The child's daily practice will require between 5-15 minutes depending on the child and skill level being mastered.
Starting a program in your community If you are interested in organising a group of parents to operate a math enrichment program in your child's elementary school, contact us about how to start.
